CoHabitat pivots to build the Dallas Clean Economy

June 29th, 2011 by a_stageman

Over the last 2-1/2 years, CoHabitat has become a hub for the Dallas startup community; a place where developers, creatives, and entrepreneurs have gathered to build big ideas into startups and realize creative visions. We’ve often represented it as a startup community and coworking space where individuals and startups have come to plug in and grow. Here are a few of those companies:

With the success of Earth Day Dallas 2011 – 48,000 people walking up and down Flora St. , just a stone’s throw away from CoHab – we’ve taken a step back, tilted our heads, and started thinking about CoHabitat’s role in the new Clean Economy.

What if we applied the same sense of community, passion for innovation, and ???? to CleanWeb.

We envision CoHabitat being a place where emerging CleanWeb ideas can gestate and evolve.

…And that’s exactly the course we’ve plotted.

We’re transforming this old house into an energy efficient operation laden with CleanTech gizmos with space for new tenants: people and companies. We have CleanWeb startups, such as Dynamo Labs, based here already, and we’re hosting events like the upcoming CleanWeb mixer and a potential local mirror of CleanWeb Hackathon to be held in San Francisco. We’re also on the prowl for windmills and rooftop solar panels; just doing our part to take a load off the Texas grid!

CoHabitat is no longer just a cool old house full of startup geeks; CoHabitat is becoming the “GreenHouse” of Dallas.

Drop by for a tour…2517 Thomas Ave, Dallas, TX, or check the calendar for upcoming events.
